and an
input map. This is so important. please click "Thumbs up" on the pink areas to preserve rural St. Charles County
https://map.social/Community.php?CommunityID=424
The questionnaire is pretty basic so you MUST take the time to add your thoughts in the text boxes that are provided for each set of questions. Simply clicking the buttons will not highlight concerns about over development or the destruction of greenspace and Rural St. Charles County.
The input map which allows you to define various features and areas as good things that need to be preserved/enhanced or issues that need to be addressed or prevented. It takes a little work, but it's a great way to communicating your vision for your community.
We need EVERYONE in the Facebook Group to complete a questionnaire! Please provide the link to your family and friends as well. If you don't feel comfortable working with the input map, then reach out to our group to get your inputs defined on one of our maps.
Thanks!
UPDATE FROM THE DEC 13th 2024 County Masterplan Steering Committee Meeting with specifically invited focus groups to attend. The Groups in attendance included developers, utilities, business groups, public safety, etc. CSGSCC was also in attendance here are the notes from that meeting:
The meeting participants were the master plan steering committee, the focus groups members they’ve already talked with (developers, utilities, business groups, public safety, etc.). No group introductions were made so I don’t know if there were any other public action groups like ours in attendance. They only allowed CSGSCC 1 rep citing space limitations though there were at least 3 developers. We sat at 7 tables of 6-7 people each. Two of my group were Jeff Kolb (original TTF developer) and Steve Valentine of Lombardo Homes (Highlands and Villages developer). Each group was given small maps of existing housing, commercial districts, transportation networks, green space, etc. We also had 1 big (3’x4’) map in which we were to conceptualize growth of all those types and document the considerations we used on defining the growth areas. I raised a concern to the HL leader that “housing” is a pretty broad brush and should be differentiated via type, density, etc. “That’s for you to work out”. No group did. The HL folks pushed us through each land uses without really any guidance. We were required to document our recommendations and considerations. Each group briefed their final map. I made plea for balance in all of the land use considerations. As the designated outsider, I doubt it had much impact. Almost everyone is that room knew each other. All of the groups had most of the new development extending west/southwest, though 3 had considerable stuff up north. 3 groups, including ours, extended the SW development to Dardenne Creek. 2 groups (one with Duckett Creek and TR Hughes as members) had it extending all the way to Hwy 94. One more group specifically targeted Hwy DD because of its proximity to Busch Wildlife. The HL folks thanked us for our inputs and said they would be considered. Personally, I think the steering committee will “cherry pick” those that agree with what they’ve already decided. HL also directed people to provide inputs via the survey and interactive map but didn’t say how those are going to be used. Again, I have my doubts on their impact. They showed a schedule and said they were a little behind but would finish on time. By what they said they’ve completed, I think they’re 4 weeks behind but they said they would finish on time - end of December. I did have a post meeting discussion with one of the SCC government employees and he said the county government sees us as “3-5 acres only” with no room for negotiations. I explained to him our position on transitional design and why the negotiations with Lombardo on the Highlands development broke down. He seemed to accept that. I also told him we believe the county could be doing a lot more to prevent annexations. He didn’t agree. He did offer to work with us if we had new and specific ideas on how to balance developments in the county and the cities
